WHY DO TEETH SHIFT?

At Holbert Family Orthodontics, we often see patients who are concerned because the smile they spent so much time straightening has begun to shift. When we ask if they have been wearing their retainer, they often answer they don’t even know where it is. Other times, we see patients who never had orthodontic treatment but start seeing teeth shift as adults. As we experience all aspects of the aging process, your teeth, like all parts of your body will continue to change and move over time. This movement, if caught early, can be stopped or corrected with minor orthodontic corrections with Invisalign Touch Up.

Shifting teeth are not uncommon. Close to fifty percent of orthodontic patients experience some level of relapse within ten years or so of completing their treatment because they stopped wearing their retainers.
