IMPORTANCE OF RETAINERS AND RETENTION
The bad news is your teeth are always moving. Wearing a retainer regularly stabilizes your bite in its ideal position. Without continued tension, the teeth will almost always move and migrate back to their old positions. A retainer adds the stability and tension your teeth need to stay in place helps prevent them from moving as you age.

If you miss a few days here and there, you will be okay, but if you stop wearing your retainer, your teeth will gradually move back to their original position. When Do I Need to Replace My Retainers?
With our Vivera Retainer Program, you have the option to order a single set or multiple sets of Vivera retainers. Each set is designed to last a long time – they are up to 30% more durable than other clear retainers. If cared for properly, your Vivera retainers should last you many years. If you are supposed to wear them all the time, they should be replaced every three months. If your usage is limited to nighttime only, you can replace it every nine months. Replacement is easy when you need new retainers: your orthodontist keeps your file on hand and simply sends an order to Invisalign to print you a new series of aligners. If you go to a new orthodontist’s office, they will take another iTero 3D scan or putty impressions to order you new Vivera retainers.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF LOSE MY RETAINER?
Or Vivera Retainer Program makes losing a retainer easy. If you lose your Vivera retainer, no need to panic: simply move on to your next retainer. You can either swap to a new set of top and bottom or replace only the one you’ve lost. Unlike Invisalign aligners, all the retainers are the same because they keep your teeth in place rather than move them. If or when you run out of retainers, contact your orthodontist. They can easily use the digital records of your treatment to order you a new series of Vivera retainers from Invisalign and even mail them to you at home.
